German Chocolate Cake with Coconut-pecan Frosting Recipe
Ingredients

•4 ounce German's Sweet Chocolate
•1/2 cup Water
•1 cup Butter
•2 cups Sugar
•4 Egg yolks
•2 1/2 cups Cake flour
•1/2 teaspoon Salt
•1 teaspoon Baking soda
•1 cup Buttermilk
•4 Egg white
• -- Frosting --
•1 cup Evaporated milk
•1 cup Sugar
•3 Egg yolk
•1/2 cup Butter
•1 teaspoon Vanilla
•1 1/3 cups Flake Coconut
•1 cup Pecan

Instruction

-- Cake --
Melt chocolate in boiling water.
Cool.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add egg yolks, one at a time, beat well after each.
Add melted chocolate and vanilla.
Mix well
Stir together flour, salt, and soda.
Add alternately with buttermilk to chocolate mixture, beating after each addition, until smooth.
Fold in beaten egg whites.
Pour into three 8- or 9-inch layer pans, lined on bottoms with paper.
Bake at 350 ? for 30 to 40 minutes.
Cool.

Combine evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter, vanilla.
Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened (abt. 12 minutes)
Add Coconut Flakes and pecans.
Beat until thick enough to spread.
